Bail Out of Wall Street & the Start of Socialism

Today’s Pod Free pod cast finds me contemplating “The American Dream”. Over the past week, “The American Dream” has been shattered. How is that you ask? Simple, the United States Government is not only picking and choosing which businesses survive or fail, but they are purchasing the debt in these businesses with TAX PAYER MONEY.

In my opinion, the “American Dream” has always been that all men (and women) were created equal and that if a person worked hard, he or she could become anything they wanted. Not a day goes by that I do not read, meet, or hear about how someone rose from nothing (their bootstraps) to become a CEO, President, Judge, Doctor, etc. My whole life, I have been taught the virtue of the Golden Rule.

The reason a person could rise up from nothing is simple...work hard and take some risks along the way. With Wall Street being bailed out, the United States Government sent a message to the people of this country: the free market does not work (laissez-fare economics) and government intervention (Socialism) is what does.

Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season

This year it seems that one Hurricane after another has found its way to the shores of America. As of this podcast, people in Texas are shoring up their homes and evacuating the Gulf Coast in preparation of Hurricane IKE.

Today’s podcast is a mix of Americana, Country, Indie and Rock with a few different themes. Obviously the first theme is about Hurricanes, while another theme is about the Gulf Coast and yet another is artists from the Gulf Coast.
